The tiny details of the printed image are invisible to the naked eye. Whenever a counterfeiter tries to copy BitSecure®, the resulting fake – for technical reasons – will lose the degree of precision and optical detail of the original. While the original is printed directly from a high-resolution digital file, the illegal copy is based on a previously printed image. When reproducing this image, the fake will inevitably be impaired in terms of precision and optical detail.
These deviations in a copy detection pattern can be identified using a scanner—such as conventional scanners, modern camera cell phones or 2D barcode readers—and respective software. The solution enables manufacturers, distributors and consumers to authenticate a product anytime anywhere.
